Gray skies have got nothing on our view. That was the takeaway from Wi-Co Philly – the first-ever Wi-Co event in the City of Brotherly Love, aboard a four-masted tall ship, no less.

Short for wireless community, UK-based Wi-Co expanded into the U.S. this year. The organization’s express purpose: to “bring the herd together” via gatherings for wireless networking sector professionals that check three boxes: affordable, accessible, and local.
Having attended and sponsored several of these worthwhile events over the past few years, Velaspan put on our hosting cap this time. On the morning of May 15th, dozens of wireless leaders from greater Philadelphia walked the gangplank onto the Moshulu at historic Penn’s Landing for a full day of knowledge-sharing sponsored by an array of fellow wireless players. Fresh-brewed coffee, bites, and Philly-branded Wi-Co swag were the preamble to a lineup of speakers including Velaspan’s own Kerry Kulp, who offered insights on queuing up wireless strategies not just to support but drive business outcomes.
As always, throughlines emerged. Several speakers touched on preparing for Wi-Fi7 while continuing to better implement Wi-Fi 6E – and harnessing these expanded channels overall in the quest to deliver the utmost in high-performance connectivity.
The skies parted and the sun shone just in time for happy hour on the upper deck, in view of the Philadelphia skyline, followed by dinner at Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen, a five-minute walk away in Old City.
“The venue, the speakers, the sponsors, EVERYTHING was great,” attendee Brian Smith said. We’re hoping to gather an even bigger herd next year. Feeling Wi-Co-curious? Learn more about Wi-Co and future gatherings.
